The World Super Market, situated in the basement of MATRO Department Store, reimagines a series of interconnected retail units. The client's vision was to consolidate a variety of international brands from the Matro Luxury Centre, cultivating a commercial setting that seamlessly merges a sophisticated global appeal with a sense of approachable warmth. KiKi ARCHi, under the direction of lead designer Yoshihiko Seki, drew inspiration from the concept of a 'color spectrum,' artfully blending diverse hues and tactile elements to forge a dynamic visual rhythm throughout the space.
This innovative design philosophy, centered on the interplay of materiality and color, orchestrates a compelling experiential retail narrative. The careful integration of various textures and shades guides visitors through the market, transforming a simple shopping trip into an immersive journey. Each retail unit, while distinct, contributes to a cohesive and vibrant whole, reflecting a thoughtful balance between individual brand identity and the overarching market concept.
The World Super Market stands as a testament to how architectural and interior design can elevate the retail experience. By embracing a 'color spectrum' as its guiding principle, the project not only creates a visually stunning environment but also fosters a sense of wonder and engagement for shoppers, proving that thoughtful design can enrich everyday commercial spaces with creativity and positive energy.
