Florida Gators Running Back Treyaun Webb Enters Transfer Portal

Instructions

In a significant development for collegiate football, redshirt sophomore running back Treyaun Webb has made the decision to enter the transfer portal. This move comes after a challenging period marked by injuries that curtailed his progress and opportunities with the Florida Gators, a team he joined as a highly-rated four-star recruit from the 2023 class.

Webb's journey with the Gators began with promise, having been a sought-after talent who chose Florida over several prominent programs, including Georgia, Florida State, and Michigan. During his true freshman year, he showcased his potential by participating in 11 games, contributing as a reserve running back and on special teams. He concluded the 2023 season with 163 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries, alongside four receptions for 18 yards, hinting at a bright future.

The 2024 season presented a setback for Webb when an injury sidelined him after only four games. This unfortunate event, while granting him a redshirt year, also opened avenues for other players like Jadan Baugh and Ja'Kobi Jackson to gain more playing time. Despite the limited appearances, Webb managed to record 93 rushing yards and one touchdown on 21 carries. His hopes for a more prominent role in 2025 were again dashed by another season-ending injury, preventing him from competing for snaps as Montrell Johnson Jr. became ineligible.

Looking ahead to 2026, there was still a possibility for Webb to make an impact, particularly with Jackson's impending ineligibility. However, the rise of freshman Duke Clark, who saw increased action in the latter part of the 2025 season, reshaped the depth chart. With Webb's confirmed medical redshirt, he now possesses three years of eligibility, offering him a fresh start and new opportunities at another institution.

Webb's exit is part of a larger trend for the Florida Gators this offseason, as the team has seen 27 players, including 24 scholarship athletes, declare for the transfer portal. This substantial number of departures encompasses various positions, from quarterbacks and running backs to wide receivers, offensive linemen, tight ends, defensive linemen, linebackers, and defensive backs. The movement underscores a period of significant roster reconstruction for the Gators, as they navigate the evolving landscape of college football and player transfers.
